Current Research Interests
• Nanotube Structural Composites: To approach theoretical mechanical performance of carbon nanotubes in macroscopic structural composites
• Nanohybrids: To controllably synthesize nanohybrids with desirable compositions (e.g. graphene decorated with different types of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles) targeting specific applications in energy storage, communication, sensor, and catalysis
• 2-Dimensional Boron Nitride. To explore the fundamental properties and synthesis of 2-dimensional boron nitride materials for composite, sensing, and electronic applications
• Topographic Surface Modification. To create topographically unique surfaces that have specific aerospace applications such as self-cleaning, solar cell, and blackbody absorbers
