Dr. Yu Gu is currently an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University (WVU). He earned a B.S degree in Automatic Controls from Shanghai University in 1996, a M.S. degree in Control Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1999, and a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from WVU in 2004. His main research interests are in bio-inspired robot/UAV perception, decision making, and interaction strategies. He has authored over 65 technical papers and managed 15 funded projects as the PI or as a Co-PI. Gu has extensive experience designing autonomous aerial and ground systems. He is also the leader for WVU Team Mountaineers that won the NASA Centennial (Sample Return Robot) Challenge in 2014 (Level-1 Prize) and 2015 ($100,000 Level-2 Prize).
