Dr. James A. DiCarlo is a Senior Technologist in the Materials and Structures Division at NASA Glenn Research Center where he has worked for over 40 years on the deformation and fracture mechanisms of structural materials. He has gained international recognition in the area of understanding and modeling the properties and time/temperature mechanical behavior of ceramic fibers and ceramic matrix composites. Dr. DiCarlo has received the NASA Medals for Exceptional Scientific and Technology Achievement, is an American Ceramic Society Fellow, and has won an R&D-100 award for a new high-performance SiC fiber. Currently he is technical leader and participant within multiple NASA teams concerned with ceramic composite development for hot-section components in advanced aerospace engines. Dr. DiCarlo is an author of over 150 scientific and technical publications.
