Experience
Chuang has been working on high temperature polymers and polyimide composites since joining NASA in 1989 with a Polymer Science degree. In recent years she has developed a solvent-free melt process based on asymmetric dianhydrides to make high temperature, low-melt viscosity imide resins that are amenable to resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) and resin film infusion (RFI) for the fabrication of polymer matrix composites, using carbon fiber and fabric preforms. Four patents have been issued in solvent-free imide resins area.
